A simply divine dual celebration for the christening of Silversea’s Silver Muse in Monaco and Sydney

Silver Muse, the world’s newest ultra-luxury cruise ship and the ninth vessel in the Silversea fleet, was christened in her homeport of Monaco on Thursday in a festive atmosphere. Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio’s 17-year-old daughter, Costanza Lefebvre, did the honours as godmother, highlighting that Silversea is a company based on family values.

In Australia, Silversea’s third largest market, the christening was marked by a harbourside cocktail reception at Park Hyatt Sydney on Thursday night, hosted by Amber Wilson, Managing Director Asia-Pacific, Silversea Cruises, and Alison Roberts-Brown, Regional Director, Australia & New Zealand, Monaco Government Tourism & Convention Authority. Trade and media guests, including LATTE, sipped on Pommery Champagne and supped on delicate creations of scallops and arancini balls. The glamorous black-and-white dress code lent an air of sophistication to the evening, a concept the 596-passenger ‘simply divine’ Silver Muse embodies.

Dining is at the centre of the Silversea experience, with three new restaurants debuting on the new vessel: Atlantide for seafood, Indochine for Asia-inspired fusion, and Spaccanapoli for Italian-themed cuisine beside the pool. Silver Muse is also home to the Zàgara Beauty Spa.

With Silversea’s Monégasque home and history, the principality played a key role in the celebration. In Port Hercule, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco was among the distinguished guests, alongside Abercrombie & Kent founder, Geoffrey Kent. In Sydney, Monaco Tourism supported the evening, taking the opportunity to promote Emirates’ new A380 service to Nice, with helicopter transfers to the principality with Monacair (complimentary for first-class guests; at a cost for business and economy passengers).

While attendees in Monaco were treated to performances by the Sinfonietta Orchestra of Rome, those in Australia were transported by the sublime strains of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
